This policy explains what the WeekendDJ app for Android ("WeekendDJ", "the app", "we") does with your information. The short version: WeekendDJ does not collect your personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything the app keeps stays on your device.
Information we collect
We don't collect, receive or store any personal information on our servers. WeekendDJ doesn't use third-party analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs, and we don't sell or share data with anyone.
Your music library
WeekendDJ asks for permission to read the audio files on your device so it can show your songs, albums and playlists and play them on the decks. Tempo, beat and silence detection run entirely on your device. Your music and information about it are never uploaded.
What's stored on your device
To work the way you expect, the app saves the following in its private storage:
- Playlists you create, and your play history used for Most Played
- Your Automix queue and settings
- Live stream settings you enter (server address, port, mount point, username). Your stream password is encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore.
- Recordings of your sets, saved as .m4a files in the Music/WeekendDJ folder on your device
If you've turned on Android's device backup, Android may include the app's settings and playlists in your backup. That backup is handled by Google under your Google account settings, not by us.
Live streaming
WeekendDJ only connects to the internet when you choose to go live. It then sends your mix's audio, the titles and artists of the songs playing, and the login you entered to the Icecast or Shoutcast server you configure. We don't run these servers and never see this data. What happens to it there is governed by whoever operates that server. The local network permission lets you stream to a server on your own home network.
Other permissions
- Notifications and background playback: used to show playback controls in the notification and on the lock screen, and to keep the music playing when the app isn't on screen.
- Wake lock: keeps playback and streaming running while your screen is off.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives only on your device, you're in control of it. Clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall WeekendDJ, to remove everything it saved. Recordings in Music/WeekendDJ stay until you delete them yourself.
Children
WeekendDJ isn't directed at children under 13, and because it collects no personal information, it doesn't knowingly collect any from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
